Thompson had resided at Owl Farm, in Woody Creek, Colorado, since 1968. The beloved author and counterculture figure ended his own life in the kitchen of his home, which he had dubbed Owl Farm and frequently referred to as a “fortified compound,” although it was in actuality only a house surrounded by 25 acres of woods.
